2026 End-of-Season Reminders

Hi everyone,

As another camping season winds down, here are a few reminders to help get your site ready for winter. Thank you to everyone who helped care for camp, volunteered on projects, and made this season enjoyable!

End-of-season cleanup — November 8th

Please have RVs, campers, and storage trailers removed by November 8th.

Before leaving your site for winter:

  • Horse shelter coverings: Remove canvas coverings or, at minimum, roll them back and secure them. Coverings may remain attached, but must not remain stretched over the shelter.

  • Take loose camping equipment home and leave your site tidy. Please don’t leave piles of belongings covered in tarps.

  • Remove step-in posts, hot tape, and ropes so elk don’t become tangled in them.

  • Secure your deck boxes. If you empty them, consider adding weight to keep them from blowing around in winter storms.

  • Plan ahead for wet weather and muddy conditions when removing your vehicles.

Having difficulty meeting the deadline? Not a problem. We only ask that you please contact Leadership@cowboycampsite.com so the Board is aware.

Winter visits and services

End of season doesn’t mean you can’t come camp or bring your horse rig for a ride. It means RVs and other seasonal items must be removed until spring opening. Any campfires remain subject to applicable restrictions.

  • Water: Tanks will be drained at season-end to prevent freezing and won’t be refilled until spring.

  • Porta-potties: Only those at each main gate will remain, with reduced service.

  • Manure: Winter pickup will stop. Small quantities may still go in the manure pits, but please take manure home when possible so it doesn’t sit until spring.

  • Equipment: Mowers and the tractor will be removed for the winter.

Please use care when driving through camp in muddy conditions.

Planning site improvements

Winter is a good time to plan fence and corral repairs or other site improvements. Please submit a site change request for approval before making changes, including fencing, gates, horse shelters, gravel, tree planting, soil additions, or grading. Let the Board know when approved work is complete.

A big thank-you to Randy, our event organizers, and everyone who contributed time and effort this season. Your help keeps camp welcoming and well maintained.

Questions? Please email Leadership@cowboycampsite.com rather than replying to this send-only address.

Wishing everyone a safe and cozy winter!

Thanks,
Cowboy Campsite Board
